Hi there my name is elliott i am a myersough student doing a project on how easy it is for arborist to get jobs in new zealand and would like other peoples thought and opinion and would appreciate if you could answer the three questions below.

 

any information you may provide will be helpful as this is also the path im trying to follow.

 

questions 1

how many years of experiences do you need to get a job in new zealand?

 

answer A- none to 1 year

answer B- 2 to 3 years

answer c- 5+ years

 

question 2

what qualification do you need to become an arborist in new new zealand?

 

answer A- none

answer B- the nptc tickets and a college qualification in arboriculture

answer C- other

 

 

question 3

what visa would they prefer an arborist to apply for?

answer A- holiday visa

answer B- essential skills working visa

answer C- residency visa

Depending on who you work for; Asplundh and Treescape both have an agreement with immigration that allows them to get around most of the requirements for a work visa due to the skills shortage. Maybe some other companies too.

You can cross credit your qualifications you currently have against a NZ recognised qualification. You may have to do some extra credits you may not.

The more experience the better but, as I say to everyone else that asks about work in NZ; check on http://www.trademe.co.nz or seek. Heaps of jobs on there for arborists and most will outline exactly what qualifications, experience etc. they require.
