Going to Scandinavia to work

Hi all , I've been thinking about trying to get over to Scandinavia to work , I've decided once the new year is over I will start making plans, was wondering where would be the best place to try and find some work out there? Should I try email a few companies out there first and try find a placement that way or take a gamble drive over and take it as a holiday whilst introducing myself face to face with companies, is there visa needed? Could I possibly take my dog aswell? , any contacts that anybody may have that may be useful would be greatly appreciated
