Stihl 056 electronic ignition FIX!

Yes, the 056 is an old workhorse that suffers from ignition failures. Too many of these old, fine saws cannot be used because of the ignition problems.

 

I pulled apart one of the failed ignitions and developed a FIX for this ignition module. The URL below describes the repairs in detail along with pictures and the component needed (a capacitor) to bring a saw back to life.

 

My ONLY reason for posting here is to provide help to anybody with this problem. The fix is free....except for purchasing the needed capacitor from either EBay, an electronic distributor or any other place one chooses.
