Hey guys was needing some help on identifying a fungus I came across. Situated at in London at the base of a monkey puzzle, lower branches are turning brown and the tree has a slight lean away from the side of the fungus which may indicate that its affecting the roots. Unsure if it's always had the lean. I attatched some photos of some cuts I made at the start of the crown break, approx 8m up. Any information would be appreciated, cheers.

I have an 80' Monkey Puzzle in my front garden (see photos). It's a big mother. But its dead and it needs to come down. Is the timber any use to anyone? Is it worth anything? I've heard its not great to burn but might be just what someone is looking for. I live in Manningtree, North Essex. I'd like it to go to a good home it was once a magnificent tree and I would guess one of the oldest Monkey Puzzles around Tom

Hi, Me and a tree surgeon mate of mine are taking down a 40ft monkey puzzle tree in my back garden next weekend. The trunk is about a foot diameter. Just wondering if (a) anyone on here wanted it or (b) any tips of where to get rid of the timber - from what I read it's not great for burning so don't know if anyone would take it off freecycle or similar. Cheers,

a mate asked my what my thoughts were on a monkey puzzle tree, that is planted close the house which he has bought. i think his concern was, were the roots going to interfere with his underground services etc and foundations of his building. so my question is, does the root spread correlated with the canopy or branch spread. like on other species. or do all trees grow differently in different situations.? If it's brown, cut it down. travis
