  1. LAND SKILLS TRAINING & ASSESSMENTS LTD We require a full time Instructor and Assessor to join our team in Surrey. Ideally applicants should be an approved Lantra Awards Technical Instructor and a registered City and Guilds Assessor for both Ground Based Chainsaw and Aerial Tree Work. The successful applicant will be based at our Dorking office but will be required to travel directly to and from training sites. A company vehicle including fuel will be supplied for work use. Hours will be 8.30am to 4.30am on site but will be flexible in line with course/assessment requirements. The role will include teaching a variety of short courses and assessing certificates of competence mainly in the specialist areas of Arboriculture and Forestry including Use and Maintenance of Chainsaws, Woodchippers, Stumpgrinders, Brushcutters, Tree Felling, Tree Climbing and associated machinery. There will be the opportunity to develop and add further skills in line with the company requirements. The successful applicant will be required to undertake a DBS check. Practical Instructor and Resource Technician (Arboriculture) Peripatetic – Crystal Palace and Horsenden Farm (Perivale) £7,196.00 to £9,063.60 plus £695.00 LW Our client is looking to recruit a Peripatetic Practical Instructor and Resource Technician to be based between Crystal Palace and Horsenden Farm in Perivale. It is a part time post for 2 days per week. The days of the week to be worked are currently Monday & Tuesday. The candidate we are looking for will technically instruct students and demonstrate a wide range of arboriculture practical tasks. We are looking for someone who can inspire students to become fully trained tree surgeons. The candidate will have the opportunity to work at other sites at Capel Manor College as required. The post-holder will be required to drive a College Minibus. It is therefore desirable that applicants have category D1 on their current driving licence. Support will be given to applicants to undertake the appropriate test if they do not currently possess this. About the College Capel Manor College in Greater London, is a vocational college delivering courses in Arboriculture and Countryside, Animal Care and Saddlery, Floristry and Balloon Artistry, Garden Design and Horticulture. Key Duties: • Undertaking demonstration and technical instruction of students attending Capel Manor on a range of full-time, part-time and short courses at the direction of the Head of School in arboriculture and on occasion’s countryside management. This would include instructing to LANTRA/NPTC standards. • Undertaking the assessment of students’ practical abilities according to criteria laid down by BTEC, City & Guilds and the National Vocational Qualifications standards. Liaising with Arboricultural and Countryside Lecturers as to student progress and with regard to schemes of work and assessment criteria. • Liaising with members of the teaching staff to co-ordinate demonstration sessions and ensure the smooth transition between classroom studies and practical sessions. • Assisting with the supervision of students allocated to projects and provision of technical assistance and advice as required. • Ensuring that all requirements and regulations relating to health and safety are adhered to at all times. Responsible for ensuring that the health and safety of students is maintained whilst undertaking practical sessions. • Assisting the Course Managers/Lecturers in visiting and assessing students’ work on work placement and assessing the workplace offered to the student for work experience. Essential Criteria: • Experience of supporting arboriculture/countryside resources. • A relevant arboriculture qualification to NVQ Level 2 or equivalent. • A current clean driving licence. • NPTC Certificate of Competence CS 30, CS31, CS32, CS38 and CS39. • A certificate of competence in the safe handling and use of pesticides (PA1 and PA6). • Working successfully as a team member. • Good communication skills with all levels of staff and students. • Successful time management, including punctuality.
