  3. A new, unique forestry event will take place in Scotland next month – 22nd and 23rd August. Forestry Expo Scotland will provide visitors the opportunity to not only see the latest and best forestry machines and equipment at work but also to hear from leading industry experts on the latest industry technology. Organiser Martin Dare, of Rural Projects Ltd, gave an insight into what visitors can expect: “Forestry Expo Scotland is unique in combining a large-scale harvesting demonstration, where we expect to harvest over 10,000 cubic metres over the course of the 2 days, with a packed field of trade stands, where further demonstrations will also take place.” “The event is supported by some of the biggest names in forestry machinery and forestry management and visitors will see the latest harvesters and forwarders from the likes of John Deere, Komatsu, Ponsse and Tigercat put through their paces in a real commercial harvesting environment.” “Our trade stand exhibitors range from woodland management experts to suppliers of machine consumables, specialist clothing and of course kit and machinery to suit all types and sizes of forestry operation.” “Scotland’s forestry and timber sector is a huge and important success story, currently contributing over £1bn to the economy, so this is a great time to stage this inaugural event. From farmers and other land managers looking to find out more about how they might establish new or managing existing woodland, to timber and forestry professionals we aim to have something for everyone attending.” “The site we have chosen for this event offers not only a great harvesting opportunity, but also a scenic backdrop for the trade expo with easy access from the M74 (M6) motorway.” The Forestry Expo Scotland event will take place at Little Clyde, Elvanfoot, South Lanarkshire. Tickets and further information are available from www.forestryexpo.co.uk
