Our client is a south London local authority. They have a busy tree section covering the management of the council's tree stock and providing advise to their planning section on works to protected trees (CAs and TPOs) and responding to development surveys. They currently require an Arboricultural Officer for an indefinite period due to the work load.. Principal duties of the role would be: • To inspect trees within highways, parks and open spaces and cemetery sites, generating works recommendations in response to customer enquiries; the officer will be expected to inform residents of inspection time frames and follow up responses, all within the Council’s corporate guidelines and in accordance with the adopted tree management policy • Meeting residents to discuss tree enquiries • Generating official contract orders • Assisting highways colleagues to assess tree root damage • Attending emergency call outs and coordinating action to make a site safe • Contract monitoring to ensure that works are being carried out in accordance with the Council and industry standards and best practice is met • Inspecting sites for the purpose of designating tree planting locations Candidates should have at least Level 3 in Arboriculture and at least 2 years experience. Opportunity to work for a local authority tree section based in north London. They currently have a vacancy for an Arboricultural Officer to supplement their existing team. Candidates should hold a Level 3 or 4 qualification in Arboricultural or be working towards this. The post holder will carry out inspections/surveys, provide estimates, prepare and issue specifications for tree works, provide technical and non-technical advice on Arboricultural issues to all Council departments, carry out tree condition surveys, for the planning, landscaping and planting of new trees and assist with insurance issues. You will also be required to issue instructions, monitor and provide guidance to a range of external contractors undertaking arboricultural works, and to ensure high quality arboricultural work is undertaken on the borough’s tree stock within highways, car parks, parks and open spaces and in other corporately owned sites . In return the option of a permanent post will be available for the right candidate.
