Looking for advice. Apple tree in garden always produced a bounty of apples but never been able to eat as they have been covered in black spots or eaten by bugs. Last year attached a sticky band around the base and this year gave a better Apple but still not quite there. My question is I think it’s very over crowded and have been pruning but there are some very tall branches that are impossible to get to. Would you advise cutting these off

Hi everyone, I have a Gloster Apple Tree that was fruiting really well up until 3-4 weeks ago. The leaves started to go brown like in the attached images and the fruit just stopped growing so I picked the fruit off to try and help the tree focus on itself. The only thing I can find online that might be an issue is fire blight? But the treatment looks severe and to be honest if it is then the tree might already be dead. If anyone has any ideas on what it could be, whether the tree can be saved or whether it's likely dead it would be much appreciated. It's in a big pot, we're in a dry and sunny area but it's watered frequently. I also have 2 cherry trees and a plum tree of the same age, in the same size pots which are all doing quite well.

Hello, I'm hoping an expert eye can tell what is wrong with my apple tree? I'm worried that it is the start of canker. It is a Spartan apple tree on M26 rootstock planted in November 2015 as a 2-year old bare root plant. On three of the branches, the bark appears to have split and looks papery. Is this the first sign of canker? There is also an area that looks more like pictures I've seen of canker, where the branch has a depression. Please can anyone identify the problem and suggest advice? I've already pruned out some of the affected branches. Hopefully, I'm just being paranoid and there's nothing wrong! It's been quite wet here (Northants), so is it possible the the bark has split due to rapid growth? Many thanks.

Hi friendly people, I'm new to arboriculture, only having grown trees for a few years. This year I bought myself a couple of 2-year old apple trees and planted them. Both trees seem to be doing well but have developed what looks like different problems. I can't find out what they are so I thought I'd post photos and see if anyone could help me. The first tree has brown spots on quite a large number of leaves. The second tree has problems only at the ends of branches. The leaves curl up and turn odd - it doesn't happen to any of the other leaves which all look healthy. Any clues would be brilliant! thanks, Oli
