I sowed an apple tree three years ago, and it has been thriving in a pot since then. We are now planning to transplant it into the garden. However, I've noticed that some of its leaves appear to have a fungal infection, especially at the growing tips where the leaves are starting to die. I'm uncertain whether this is solely due to a fungal infection or if it could be related to issues with the pot or watering. Can someone help me identify the problem?

Hello forum. First post I have an established apple tree in my small back garden. Last year we got a good crop of fruit. Its dropped its blossom and started producing leaves in the last few weeks but there are quite a lot of dead and dryed out leaves at the end of it's newer spurs and branches. See pics. After a bit of googling I'm wondering if this is fire blight? Or just the tree not getting enough water to it's roots? The garden used to be turf and we recently paved it. I also cut off quite a lot of old and damaged wood in February, but I don't think so much that it would damage the tree. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks, Richard.

Apple tree bark turning orange and coming off
Leaf17 posted a question in Homeowners Tree Advice Forum
Hi all, Hoping you may be able to help with a problem we have with our apple tree - photos are attached. We live in north of the UK and moved to this house 3 years ago. The apple tree is very old and produces loads of fruit. I noticed a few months back that bark has started coming off the bottom of trunk. This area is orange and the same colour has started travelling up into branches. We love this tree so I'm worried that it may be something bad. I removed some fairly large branches (up to around 4 inches diameter) in March 2021 to allow for small shed which will have been about 5-10% of the tree in total. Other than that, I trimmed the canopy a little but haven't done anything else to it since we moved in. I'd be really grateful if someone could let me know if they know what's wrong with the tree and if it can be remedied? Thanks very much, Jack -
Hi all, Thanks for reading, We have a small apple tree that's been in the middle of our garden for at least 60 years! In recent years it hasn't been in good shape, quite a lot of small dead branches covered in this stuff pictured, now larger branches, sometimes showing just a couple of leaves on the end. We've reached the point where there are no leaves or small branches in the lower half of the tree. Side note, unusually it hasn't grown any apples this year! If anyone knows what this is - and even better what my best course of action might be to try to fix it we'd be very grateful. Thanks a lot! Dave C p.s. I thought I'd branch out a little, turn over a new leaf and see if someone here can get to the roots of the problem!
