Hi,
Thanks for the replies, the lane is owned by the Hornby Castle Eastate although it is now mainly used by the residents of 5 houses, one being my neighbour, then three other houses and right at the top of the lane is the Hare/Fox Hound Kennels, also dailyprocession of tractors carrying dead animals for hounds. I am on the main road at the corner of the Lane where it meets the main road with one boundary adjacent to my neighbour and one boundary on the lane. The Plum tree is in the corner by neighbour and lane, there were no Plum tree leaves actually touching the phone lines.but there is also a Sycamore tree that did have branches that the phone lines went through When I went out there was my neighbour and two lads and an older fatter man his foot on a small extension ladder, and Greengrass's Dog, one young lad geared up for climbing. The lad took ages getting up the tree, I said that I could get up there quicker, does he know what he is doing. has he done any tree work before, Fat man - he is only 15 and is just learning to climb. he is putting up the rope today then we will come back tomorrow. I left them to it thinking no cutting was going to be done, but when I went back 30 minutes later the same young lad was cutting off Sycamore branches with a hand saw and a chainsaw. I took a few more photographs and the older man said that it was illeagal to take pictures of a young boy and he did not want any calls from his parents and if I did not stop he would take my phone from me and told me to clear off..I looked up when to prune a Plum and it said never later than September
I now have a pile of branches down the side of the lane which my neighbour told me to start moving.
I was worried about the work quality and timing. but from what you say it will probably be ok as I don't think there are many Plum trees nearby. I went up the tree this morning on my extension ladders and found quite a few badly cut branches on both trees.
