  1. Amusing comments from keyboard warriors. I am the neighbour who took the photos and published the video. Height quoted is as per tree survey, clearly folks here know better, as per usual internet forums. Lol. It was a very time consuming job. Felling works was over 10 working days, involved 4 men and took place 8am - 1pm each day. After lunch, rest of day was clearing up and disposing of spoils off-site with London traffic to account for. As for price, no idea as that is neighbours problem and I don't care Personally, glad to see the back of it as my house was at risk from tree falling being downwind of prevailing SW breeze. The council approved the works within a couple of days as arborist declared tree in urgent need of felling (conservation area, but no TPO). However it took a lot of badgering of the council to get them to coerce the neighbour to take action; neighbour did not want to pay, but ultimately had no choice as firmly on his land.
  2. Humorous video of ~160yr old Copper Beach Tree being felled in Chiswick, West London. Terminal root root as result of Meripilis Giganteous / Giant Polypore infestation. Tree considered dangerous. Neighbour's tree - initially refused to do anything about it, so had the get the Council to lean on neighbour. No machinery access, so all felled timber had to be hand carried from rear garden to road at front. I man up tree with chainsaw, another on the ropes and two men permanently clearing up - ~40 man days to get to stump level ! If link doesnt work, search YouTube for "Felling of a ~160yr old 25m tall Copper Beech Tree"
  3. Well its a 20m tall tree, less than 10m from my house...so given that it has a terminal infection the risks of delaying felling it seem unacceptable to me. If it falls in my direction with a stiff breeze from the south west (prevailing wind!), then thats my house gone along with my family. Seems best that the tree is felled ASAP to me. Will pressure the owner who is immediate neighbour.
  4. Than Thanks. From the research I have done, it appears that the tree needs to be felled.
  5. Hi Neighbours copper beech tree appears to covered in mushrooms. I'm no tree expert, but some googling has lead me to the impression that the tree is riddled with Honey Fungus and the tree is potentially already dead. For example, this video at 11 seconds in – https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FpSq7gy6ieI It is a rather large mature tree at ~20m tall and a trunk almost 2m diameter. Wondering what the views from the experts are? Thx !
