  1. @gand well I've always followed the pulling 2/3 drive links away from the bar rule of thumb, with the carving bar it should be slacker though. Correct me if I'm wrong here ? The thing is, I have tried it with a variety of chain tensions, microadjusting then cutting, and so on, but it behaves the same way regardless
  2. @Stubby Brand new chain/bar/saw both times, so I kinda doubt it
  3. @kram I can post a video later No expert but I have a decent amount of experience, 10 years a subby, always had Stihl saws though, so this is new territory in a sense.. I had noticed that pushing the chain round, it does almost feel as if the clutch and sprocket are old and need replacing.. I will have another play when I get a sec, try and do what you mention. Funnily enough, the pushing chain seems almost less prone to jam up and run rough.. no idea why this might be..
  4. Trust me @pleasant it has certainly crossed my mind ! I almost couldn't believe it when it started happening with this second saw. Both saws, I ran a tank of gas through on tickover, revving every 5 mins or so, before putting them to work proper. (I have come across a couple of people complaining of similar problems, on quite old threads, but nothing substantial enough for it to seem a common problem) Out the box, both have this same issue, and I'm struggling to see what sort of user error there could be here.. at this stage I really hope it is user error, but currently I'm drawing a blank as to what that could be !
  5. Hiya everyone, I bought a brand new Echo CS2511TES back in April, and straight away it had a problem with cutting anything above about 3/4" in diameter. As soon as you put it into meatier sections, it started to throw you around, and run super rough. The chain tightness was also impossible to adjust correctly, it would nearly jam up and then start to creep, all in the space of 10 seconds. (Bear in mind, this is a brand new saw, bar and chain) It was sent back to the dealer, and they said that the sprocket/clutch was warped, so they replaced it, and sent it back. It definitely improved it, but the problem was still there. So after a lot of toing and froing I eventually got a refund. Spin forward a few months, and given how well this saw is reviewed all over the internet, I convinced myself the saw I got was a dud, and went for it a second time. Lo and behold, exactly the same thing. The first saw I bought, I got it with the tapered carving bar. So this time, I got it with a standard Echo 10" normal top handle bar. But it behaves exactly the same way. My feeling is this is almost certainly a problem with the bar/chain/ combo, in some regard. But when you buy a new saw, it should function properly to some degree out the box, and the problem I have is pretty fundamental. So my question is has anyone else had a similar experience, as I am struggling to find much on the internet of people in a similar situation. And if so, aside from getting another refund, how did you resolve it ? I find it very hard to believe I've got two bad saws on the bounce, the odds on that would be pretty long..
