yes you're correct, i failed to mention the potential target(s) of which one is a main road and the other is a footpath within a housing complex. Ive noticed that there are at least 3 pines infected with with Phaeolus and i havent finished my survey there yet. all three have roads as their target- 2 near a main road the other on a residential road.

Looking for your thoughts on phaeolus schweinitzii. Is it an instant fell on first sight? Or is there scope to monitor and maintain?

Yeah, I think it may well be rigidoporus. I will revisit at a later date and see how it develops...thanks for the suggestions

Evening all,
I've been having a hard time trying to identify what this fungi may be, any ideas?
It was found growing on a horse chestnut in decline. The tree has had some crown reductions in the past and now has a significant amount of deadwood throughout. The fungi is growing almost the entire circumference at the base of the tree resupinately almost as if has been melted in places.
There are some areas where it looks like young ganoderma in formation possibly even polypore.
I did a Google search and the closest I found was a green cheese polypore?? Doesn't sound like something that grows in this this country to be honest.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

Thanks for the input, my first thought was to remove and replant, just wanted to get a second opinion, this has helped confirm my decision,
Thank you
