    Sheep

We have other land too. My grandparents were crop farmers mainly and did have some animals but I was very young then. As I got older my passion was always horses and worked on many of farms. The whole idea of sheep is literally an idea. Nothing is set in stone. I didn't really want cows even though I do know slightly bit more about them. In all honesty they scare me.

    Sheep

We have other land too. Learning new things isn't a bad thing. No sheep is currently on the land. Nor will they be until I know the basics at the very least. I understand fully they are not pets and I'm certainly not stupid to do something to put animals at risk. That's why there is supposed to be forums like this to get advice. And if I decide not to go ahead then fine. It will be left as empty land. But thanks anyways

Would these bring what seems to be the same kind of issues as sheep? Thanks

    Sheep

Thanks but I do also have 50 acres too and other land also. But instead of getting much more sheep and not having a clue and being stuck. Starting out small and learning is always the best way and also called being responsible

    Sheep

Hi. I've just purchased 4 acres paddock land. The land itself is on a slope. It has barbed wire around the perimeter with a tree line aswel. The fields boundary goes right upto a beck running at the bottom of the field. The beck is not mine. I am thinking about putting some sheep on there, however, I will be perfectly honest, I don't know much about sheep. I don't want ewes so I dont have to go through lambing. Can someone please give me brief information about sheep. How many can I get in my land? What kind of size my barn would have to be? Are rams prone to injuries/infections/diseases? How often vet comes for injections? What are the injections for? How often sheep shearing? Hoof trimming? Food they eat other than grass or would that be suffice? When would you bring them in barn? How often muck out and where do I put it? Fencing, it's illegal to have barbed wire less than 2.4m so what could I use? How do I stop foxes? I know there are many breeds if sheep but what breed would be most suited for this and what kind of price would I be looking at to buy them at. I'm sorry for all the questions but I want to get it right before I start anything because I want my sheep to be happy, healthy and safe. Thank you

  17. Hi. I am new here and i thank all who gives me advice. I will explain briefly the situation. I own a parcel of land approx 1 acre woodland. It used to be an old water tower station. This has actually been removed now. On the land it has TPO's. Many of the TPO trees has been felled due to dying. Which approval was given by my local council and replanted new trees to compensate. I am in the process of applying for single dwelling house to be build. I have recieved objections from various people. However the landscape team has made a comment. Their comment is quite complicated in places and simple in others. I want to know does a root protection area only apply to TPO trees or is it trees in general? Is the RPA the law or consideration? From what I can gather from their comments, he remarks on the roots and the distances, in which has never been mentioned to me before on any of my property projects. He mentions different distances for different trees, again is this correct or law or does the area vary depending on size of the tree or what? Some of the trees he has referred to, don't have TPO's on them and they are actually on the other side of my boundary fence. I just need some advice please..I know I've not given the full aspect of my situation I have not come across what sounds like the RPA that he is referring to. Also does a TPO protect the roots aswel as the top ground tree or is it the fact that TPO covers the top and then RPA covers the roots on all trees? I know I said "briefly " at the beginning but it's ended in an essay. Please any advice will be helpful to me. Many thanks
