  1. The gap around the fire is more than what's recommended and the window sill never gets hot. We have a glass hearth in place as well. Agree though fitter was a numpty!🙄
  2. Don't need a,certificate up here. Likely why this guys done a crap job!🙄
  3. Think I should get a different company in to check the fitting then.
  4. To be fair the internal pipe on an angle does drive me nuts. So are you saying all the piping is upside down? Not sure on building regs up here in Scotland. Do I need a service opening outside then?
  5. The more I read about the sealant he used it only goes to plus 150 so surely its melting? Other sealants are good for up to plus 1250!!
  6. Hi all thanks for all the advice. As far as I'm aware the installer only used the sealant I posted earlier. He didn't use bitumen. Maybe it is the sealant? It is sticky but now not so sure its tar. I'll contact the guy and see what happens. Thanks all.
  7. You sound as bad as me! I spend hours googling stuff!🤣

  9. Hi Gareth suppose it could be it melting? The stove has two silver vent regulators at the bottom of the stove. In to allow more air in out to close.
  10. The guy who fitted it used this stuff so not sure it's this melting?
  11. I have a detector in the room and there's no issues. I was wondering if it's coming in from outside? And I think they're double skinned.
  12. Hi all. I have a, wood burner in my living room. I use kill dried wood but I'm getting a tar like substance dripping down the OUTSIDE of the flu where it comes in from the outside wall. I've only had the burner in since April and only now using it regularly. How do I stop it and why is it on the outside of the pipe not the inside?
