  1. Thanks once again to all. A final question. Now that our tree is dead and the neighbours have their own tree growing from the suckers our tree produced, can their tree 'take over' the root system? i.e Even though our tree is dead, its root system is still alive, but it has now been 'adopted' by the neighbour's tree for use?
  2. Unfortunately we have problem neighbours who are really not the type of people who would want to cooperate with us. When you say it is our tree, what do you mean by that? Do you mean its our tree since it reproduced asexually and thus it is has the same DNA as the tree that was in our garden but is now dead?
  3. Thanks to all so far. So far I've established these guys are not cowboys. My mother is also not at fault. However the neighbours are claiming that our tree is growing into their garden. So one final question. With our tree dead, won't its suckers continue growing in the neighbour's garden because the neighbours haven't killed their suckers? The neighbours seem to think it is our tree feeding their suckers.
  4. So isn't this kind of the fault of the neighbour then, who failed to cut and mow the suckers and then complained about it to our estate agents, who in their ignorance, blamed the surgeons, who in turn wrongfully blamed us? The neighbours have let their suckers practically grow into a tree, and are causing these problems. Here is a picture of their garden. The top half of the screen is their garden, and they have let this sucker grow into a baby tree. But even if our tree is dead, won't their tree now keep growing?
  5. From what I can gather from responses here, they did their job, so they are not cowboys. However the neighbours said the 'suckers' keep growing and told our landlord's estate agent, who proceeded to blame the surgeons, who in turn wrongfully blamed my mum to dodge any flak.
  6. I apologise, I didn't know what a sucker was until right just now. So are these suckers basically baby trees that will continue growing if you don't mow them? But if you mow them, then the roots will not continue growing?
  7. Thank you, once again I am not familiar with botanical terminology, what is suckering? My mum has told me the tree is essentially sprouting new baby trees from its roots in the neighbour's garden, but there must be some sort of misunderstanding.
  8. By the way I just spoke to my mother to clarify something. My mother said that the tree roots have grown into the neighbour's garden and they are sprouting new trees. Do tree routes sprout new trees like some sort of hivemind? My botanical knowledge has reached its limit. I am honestly confused now, because I have been told here that the tree is dead and can no longer grow roots. (copied and pasted as I originally asked this to another person here)

  10. Because we're worried the landlord will give us the boot. The tree surgeons don't care, they're just using as a scapegoat so they don't have to work for free to finish their job. So they blamed us, the tenants, for causing the roots to grow by watering it, to try and swindle more money from the landlord.
  11. Because the estate agent told them that it was still growing, and the neighbours were complaining about it. So the guys obviously didn't want to accept that because then they'd have to work more for free to finish the job they were paid for, so they blamed my mother for causing it to continue growing roots by watering it.
  12. Oops, I don't know the terminologies, but there are leaves growing out from where the roots have gone.
  13. Right I mean it doesn't make sense how that could cause the tree to grow. If I paid for a second opinion from a different tree surgeon, would they be able to call BS on what these guys said? Technically as tenants it's not our responsibility, but these guys are trying to swindle the landlord and using my mum as the scapegoat. So if the landlord thinks it's our fault, they might not renew our contract.
  14. So their malicious behaviour is worse than I thought. They are claiming it is still growing when it isn't? Are you sure the tree is dead? Because there are leaves and such sprouting from parts of the roots that have grown across the garden.
  15. But it is still sprouting roots, that's the whole reason they are blaming my mother.
