  1. I did look there, not a great help.
  2. Best way of stopping it?
  3. Our apple tree has started to look poorly again, more or less a year to the day. Yesterday the tree looked healthy and full of blossom, today it’s very wilted in places, the leaves look frosty and dead. Last year we put it down to woolly aphids. This year there are some, haven’t seen a great deal and have been scrubbing with methylated spirits as soon as they are discovered. Would like to know what’s causing the tree to go like this and put a stop to it.
  4. I like this reply. i have only seen the holes in the bark while splitting the logs today. Let me go grab a snap……. 📸
  5. It looks like it’s in some fresh ash I have. Can only see a few holes but there is lots of powder like wood dust where they are sitting. Plenty of precautions wood in the house, the log store is made of wood, as is the fences around it. And obviously all my other logs that I have stored. Is it worth spraying with woodworm killer? Going to be very hard to find all the effected logs.
  6. Looks like I may have wood work in some of my logs. I'm guessing this will spread unless stopped. Any advice on what to do?
  7. How’s best to get rid of these little buggers? Tree is covered in them.
  8. Roughneck ROU65678 Log Splitting Maul It has no trouble with most logs.
  9. It’s not like hitting concrete, it’s just not splitting.
  10. Thought it was pear but it’s a PAIN to split. Wood is still moist but larger logs won’t split with the axe. From what I’ve read, hawthorn is tough to split. The grain doesn’t seem to ever run straight. Am I better to leave it to season a little first?
  11. Most of the logs from todays drop. Hard for me to guess how much is there, but some nice big logs to get stuck into.
  12. Wasn’t sure if they were a standard length.
  13. How deep do the screws go? The log collecting has got a little out of hand 😂 Mostly fruit wood, some long branches that a friend dropped off too the right and todays ash drop off.
