Perhaps a tree fell from the woodland onto someone's private property. They may have even had a car parked on their drive which was damaged.
Not exactly an inconceivable scenario.
This is what happened

Hello
Opposite my customers house is a small strip of land where there are quite a few trees. Over the last five years two significant trees have fallen and significantly damaged vehicles and property fortunately nobody was injured.
My customer is happy to pay for the work required to make several trees safe but I have been unsuccessful in contacting the owner of the land and they have not been forthcoming. No contact has been made. What is the best way to deal with this now?
Does anyone have any experience in successfully challenging somebody who has neglected trees like this?
Many thanks in advance

Hi
Just wondering if anyone knows of a place where I can get a PDF of this book.
I have a copy however because of my dyslexia I find it very difficult to read an actual book.
Thanks

Alas the trees might get some respite.

My understanding is…Using the root stock of one species and the canopy of another it’s used where particular varieties are more succeptiable to spesfic defects and or for harvesting a more desirable fruit or ornamental foliage. In this case it looks like the Fagus has a weeping habit wich was perhaps more desirable…? However it confused me because trees around churches were often pollarded to harvest the wood/fodder in times gone by.
How long has grafting been carried out?

Thanks Derek. How can one tell the difference between the graft line and the old pollard point?

Hi, thank you very much for your reply. Defiantly airing on the side of caution here with hazards in close proximity. I don't suppose you have any pictures of the decayed stem after the tree in question was felled?
-
Hi thanks for your reply.
yes they do go up a fair way. The tree is in excess of 25m. The percussion test gave a consistent resonance. The customer is reluctant to spend money on something that may well end in costing more money…..
Perhaps it’s because I’m paying more attention but I have never seen so many fruiting bodies on trees.

Hello Please, could someone give advice regarding the pictures below? I am getting unclear answers from various sources on the best course of action regarding the significance of this Fungi and how urgently work should be undertaken if at all? Also several trees in this area have the same helical ribbed nose adaptative growth which could be linked to the Fungi? Many thanks

Dear Colleagues,
I am currently doing my ABC level 4 diploma, Ancient and Veteran Trees essay and am trying to find a Quote were Ted recommends placing dead cats in trees...…I recall a lecturer saying this happened, but realise it may have never been put in a document for obvious reasons. Alternatively if any one knows where I can source some of his papers or books for free, that would be very helpful.
Thanks in advance

I have found who owns it through the land registry and searching on companies house but have not been able to get anywhere as the directors details are hidden and the companies have no phone number or address.
