  1. Took it to bits. After putting back together I'm left with this spring, it's not the brake spring or vibration dampener spring.... Any ideas where this spring would belong?
  2. It's just a cover, there's a bolt holding chassis in there.
  3. Just checked and it does look very similar to the einhell chainsaw as you said, do you know the chain dimensions, pitch, gauge etc? I wonder if this saw needs a carb also it certainly needs a starter.
  4. I'm pretty sure I found a starter for it. 1pc Recoil Pull Starter For 38CC Chainsaw Easy Pulley Starter Chainsaw Starter WWW.EBAY.CO.UK Application: Fit on Chainsaw 38CC Note Please allow 1-3mm error due to manual measurement. Due to the difference... But you say it's junk, I couldn't even resell it, wouldn't do for firewood cutting, it must be able to do something?
  5. Yeh just noticed sticker said sthil and not stihl after I posted. I think it's a Husqvarna clone, the flywheels look very similar. I'll need to take off the flywheel and see if there are any part numbers on it. I'd still like to try and get it going.
  6. I picked one up for free, no chain or pull cord. It's a stihl 3800, there's nothing on Google, thought there might be maybe one page but nothing. It's probably 30+ years old at a guess. Will I still be able to get a chain and pull chord do you think? Anybody know this saw?
  7. Well that's what I'm asking, so you can't apply for permission to cut down windblown or dead trees in forestry land?
  8. I'm in Scotland. I'm wondering what the felling permission rules are for felling in forestry owned land. Can I fell windblown trees for example, or dead trees, or basically what can you fell if anything, with or without permission? I'd like to do this to get more practice at felling, cutting, brush removal and also if I could take some firewood that would be a bonus. Also I have time on my hands so better doing something than nothing.
  9. North Scotland, near inverness
  10. I'm looking to work. I have done one year at college, have basic tree cutting and fencing skills. I have a car and trailer(with license). I'm keen and fit and have chainsaws and pretty much all the gear or access to anything I would need from various sources. So can I just "give it a go". I would not do this without insurance first and I have storage options(rentable storage etc). I wouldn't be solely doing tree surgery work, rather fencing, land care, and anything within that category, cutting hedges, removal, general work. The downsides, I have no work lined up. I have little experience. I wouldn't attempt anything that I felt was dangerous or beyond my skills. So if you were in my position what would you do next, would you hand out flyers, phone around. Where would you get work ?
  11. Is it possible to run a tree surgery business without dedicated storage, the obvious answer is no but I'd be interested to hear if anybody has managed to work around it. For example if your setup is a pickup/trailer where are you going to store the trailer overnight or when not used, the same with logs, heavy equipment etc.. I have no room where I stay for these things. Thanks for any help.
