That was my initial thoughts too but from the bit of online research I've done the 65 had a completely covered spark plug and the 77 had a bigger top end with the plug poking out of the case.
Not entirely sure though, hence the post!
If it is a 77 I think they're pretty rare. Not seen any listed anywhere, especially in the UK.

Hi folks.
First post on the forum but I've been lurking for a while.
I wondered if someone could identify my old husqy. I picked it up recently and I'm currently doing some work on it. Now I'm fairly sure it's an old L77 but would like to confirm that. Runs up well. I need to source a new exhaust as its completely shot to pieces. It has monster compression, damn near rips your arm off so also need to source a cheater D handle!
