Thanks chaps, will check the brake band although I have just replaced this. Hmm that's a good point. I think it's definitely chain oil although i'll double check this. The overheating is definitely coming from around the clutch as it's smoking from that point. Thanks for the thoughts guys, will have a tinker!

Oh, the saw is a Husqy 440e

Hi all, I have 2 new chainsaw issues.. 1. Continuing oil leak. The oil does not seem to be leaking from the bar and chain side of the saw but from around the casing and leaking in and around the flywheel. My question is, can the oil tank itself leak oil out of the actual case between perished seals etc? If so I'm happy to replace the tank but just wanted to check if this was an issue as it's an expensive part. I thoroughly checked all other places for oil leaking and it seems to be coming from the actual tank casing leaking in and around the flywheel. 2. After using the chainsaw for no longer than 5 minutes it gets really hot and is overheating around the clutch drum. The chain and bar are definitely getting lubricated so I'm thinking it's an issue with the clutch drum/assy itself. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance

ahh adw..you are my hero! You have no idea how many times I have take this thing apart, which is probably how it went missing in the first place! The only problem is now how to replace this as I can't see it on the parts diagrams..

This is the parts diagram for my oiling system. It looks like there is an unfinished label below the pump piston. Should this be anything? It doesn't come up on the parts list

I flushed out the oil tank again yesterday with some spirit and I noticed there was a leak of this spirit which seemed to be coming from the crank case somewhere and building up at the base of the flywheel. Can the crankcase have leaks in the tank itself?

Thanks Spud, I have done all of this and inspected and changed the worm gear and pump piston for brand new parts. So I think I have these covered. Thank you though

Hi adw, Yes the light grey filter that you can access through the bottom of the saw. I have removed this cleaned it and also replaced it with a brand new one so don't think that's the issue. That's interesting what you say about the for the oiler to pump it needs a throw on the shaft. I'm not sure I follow this..😬 and what do you mean by an eccentric cut into the nylon gear? I don't suppose you would know the part numbers to these so I can look them up and know what i'm looking for? Thanks so much
