It would depend on how steep an incline. I beleive Spider lifts have a set up incline upto somewhere near 34% or 19 degrees.

Thanks for all the advice and guidance. It is much appreciated. I got involved purely by chance as I live nearby. I have limited experience as my main occupation is a mechanical plant engineer. I have worked with chainsaws for over 30yrs and have my chainsaw qualifications. I enjoy working in the woods and helping owners with general maintenance. The owner is hoping to move to the area in the next few months so just trying to get the ball rolling in readiness.

Coed Cymru is a good shout for advice, my mate over in Maesteg is long retired now, but his son, Mark Filer, who was a young tearaway when I last saw him, seems to run his contracting business from the old farm.
Thanks will keep him in mind as just a few miles from the woods.

If you or your acquaintance hasn't already, it may well be worth speaking to Coed Cymru the timber charity. Unless I am out of date they give free advice on woodland management and marketing in Wales, but also they are an excellent source of contacts. If you can get hold of the officer who covers your area he or she will almost certainly know a number of local contractors.
Thanks for the advice. I will try contacting them. This woodland has been neglected for a number of years. He lives a few hours away at present I'm trying to help him get started as I live near the woods. He's got some ideas what he would like to do with it. Only time will tell if they come to fruition.
Also considered someone like HW Forestry. Has anyone had any experience with them?

Some one I know has purchased a woodland about 6 miles from Bridgend. He has no previous forestry experience and is looking for the best / easiest way to carry out thining. Could anyone advise / recommend any contractors who would be able to carry out this work. From what I have seen it's mainly western hemlock. There are no permits applied for as yet as still assessing options. Would it be better to sell as standing timber or pay a contractor to carry out the work? Any advice is much appreciated.

Had gearbox problems with my 2013 Wildtrack. Transmission control module diagnosed as the issue. Unfortunately it's buried inside the gearbox. I had a new box including torque converter fitted 2yrs ago. I think it cost about £5800 all in by local Ford dealer. That developed similar symptoms last June and had replacement fitted under warranty. So far no further issues. Mine isn't towing heavy loads day in day out aand has only just passed 90k. If you can manage without it for a couple of weeks I think a reputable gearbox specialist would be able to resolve it. I spoke with a specialist prior to getting it done at Ford dealer they were confident they could sort it out but I would have get the gearbox to them and probably 2-3 weeks to check source parts and repair. I couldn't manage without it that long.

Don't see why you couldn't fit motor movers. Probably not ideal on a muddy surface. I did fit a set to an Ifor Williams trailer for an old guy I knew. Worked well when empty no good when full. The ones I fitted to my caravan were rated at about 2.8t.

I have a set of ramps from these people
Vehicle & Aluminium TUV Certified Heavy Duty Vehicle and Plant Loading Ramps - The Ramp People
WWW.THERAMPPEOPLE.CO.UK
The UK' Largest Selection of Superior Quality Aluminium Ramps for Vehicles. Amazing Prices Plus Free UK Delivery. Customisable. We Have Ramps For All Needs. Over 25 Years'...I use them with my Ifor Williams trailer. Found them to be well made a friend uses his to run machines into the back of his 7.5t tipper. They come with an interlocking plate that can be used to stop the movement at the top end. I'll try to get a photo to show it in use.
I have in the past transferred equipment from the back of a truck onto a trailer. But it had jack legs on the trailer to steady it.

My wife's renewal was £393 back in June for her 62 plate Evoque. With business cover. Only need the business cover as we're also Foster carers. She was quoted a ridiculous price so did a few comparisons. Same with my Ranger been with Admiral for 3 years this year wanted £770 😟. Eventually went with Ageas for £255.
