Don't do it yourself, get a professional in, be much cheaper and safer in the long run. Chainsaws ain't toys and that trunk looks like an accident waiting to happen for a beginner.
To be honest I am getting to that point, It’s too risky. I could just cut bits out and use it for my fire pit. My aim is to cut it as low as possible so I can have space. I was having so much fun cutting but it destroyed my B&Q electric chainsaw. I don’t mind the roots staying.
Do you know how much will it cost to get a pro to cut it as low as possible even if they don’t touch near the fence.?

It looks well dead. Dig it out with a mini digger and pull it over then get someone in to cut it up.
Yeah, apparently it was cut about 18 years ago, my neighbour told me it was a massive tree. I moved in 5 months ago

Unless you, or the pro, cut down the trunk parallel and close to the railings, then cut it off in slices leaving the thin section around the railings. You could then attack the bit left around the railings with hand tools to break it up. Very tedious job, but is doable.
Thanks very much for the feedback.

You’ll want something the size of a stihl ms462 by the looks of it. It will be cheaper for you to hire a pro
thanks, I didn’t realise that a proper chainsaw would be so expensive. but they are a beautiful piece of a equipment.

Hi There,
I am hoping someone could advise me what sort of powerful heavy-duty chainsaw I could get to cut a large tree stump in my garden. I have wasted money buying a couple of electric chainsaws from B&Q and I have broken both by cutting bits out of this stump.
Apologies to bother you with this but I just don’t have the experience and any advice wound be much appreciated.
Thanks
Gerardo Sanchez
hope someone can advise please
