Brilliant!
I was 90% sure the one with lenticels was cherry (bottom right), had an idea about apple too, due to a faint scent whilst cutting it. Never new the poplar though. The bottom left has a fibrous bronze coloured inner bark.

Thankyou. Will update the picture tomorrow to show the end grain.

Hi everyone,
I am new to the forum. Thought I should enroll as I have a few questions someone may be able to answer for me.
I do a bit of woodturning as a hobby and I have had some logs for about 6 months. I would love to know for sure what they are. I have made guesses and looked online and in books etc but I find it difficult to identify wood by bark alone. Obviously much easier when you can see the leaves too!
I have attached a picture. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Good afternoon,
Any ideas? I am thinking,
Pic 1 Alder and Cherry
Pic 2 Ash
Pic 3 / 4 Cherry
Pic 5 / 6 not sure, bark is fissured with triangular shapes
Still not sure about the chunk in the background (with the saw cut in it) in pic 6.
TIA guys.
