Hi
We have a Mature Chestnut tree in the garden that recently had lots of fungus growing only at the tree butt. I think it is honey fungus but just need to be 100% sure. Tree location/area is fairly damp all year around which I believe the chances of encouraging fungus are higher. There is a fair amount of rot at the root plate but it has adapted like that for years. It had a crown reduction few years ago to minimise the wind sail. A very large limb snapped few months ago in the high wind. Can anyone help please?
Thanks

Hi
We pollarded a mature Oak tree in southeast England last year in winter. It had severe wind damage and lost a very large limb. The tree is located right next to the children play area. Some other contractor has done work on the tree a few years ago before by heavily thinning the crown leaving excessive weights on the tip of the limbs that were overhanging the children play area. Since a few weeks, it has been shedding lots of barks. I have been monitoring since then. It could be weather stressed. We had an issue with the Hornets Nest at the root plate of the tree last few years. I think they were feeding on the sap? There are few woodlice nest but I don't think they can cause any serious damage to tree health. It might be an early stage of Canker but still not sure. There is no sign of a bleed and cracks anywhere. A few days ago as I inspecting I came across white larve in the tree ( Picture attached ). We don't want to lose the tree but at the same time it is mature large tree right next to the children play area and if it on its way out we want to act before anything happens. Can you anyone advise or help please.

Anyone know of a reliable traffic management company in around Kent. We have a mature Ash tree in the steep bank next to the property. The tree took a severe hit in Storm Ciara and one of the very large limb fell and brushed the property. Luckily no one got harmed. With further VTI the tree has now got all the pressure weight towards 60mph busy road. The crack is so severe that it is now decided to be felled. We had a traffic management company in place to temporarily shut the road when the tree work commence but we have been let down and so on by couple of other company who is not interested. Just wondering if any of you have ever experienced same issue but manage to find a reliable traffic management company then can you please help us by sharing their contact details. We spoke with the Council and they are not being of much help at the moment.
P.S We will plant replacement trees once the tree is safely removed.
Thank you.
