  1. Would be very interested in a couple of trailer loads of oak and would be happy at £175 per load delivered if that's fair and reasonable.
  2. The plan was to cut to 14" hence the desire for 3ft 6" length to give 3 cuts per log then split. I've bought 3cube seasoned Ash which arrives Saturday which should (fingers crossed) see me through the winter and spring. But I still have an itch to start a pile of my own for next year, just because I can. I'm talking to one of the local guys about selling me unseasoned but pre- cut logs but somehow that seems like cheating......
  3. I'm up by Raleghs Cross, are you in this neck of the woods?
  4. Hi all, new member posting, when I saw this thread it was enough to make me sign up to comment. Apologies if this is lengthy but hopefully is relevant. I'm new to Wood burning this year having moved into a place on the edge of Exmoor that had a log burner fitted. Sadly not a fit and healthy one, and after conversations with my sweep back in October I invested in a Woodwarm stove and a large pallet of kiln dried Birch and Oak. I've so enjoyed the whole process that I've started to look at buying green timber and doing my own splitting/drying as I have room to develop a decent sized log pile for future use. I'm really struggling however to find anyone locally that can sell me either single species unseasoned logs or better still my ideal would be Ash or Oak logs 3ft 6 in length anywhere between 8"-14" round. I've tried speaking/ messaging some of the local guys that sell logs with no joy and have two other options left (one forestry contractor and one sawmill) before I give up and resign myself to forever buying in pre dried logs. As ever, supply and demand is king and it would appear that people like myself are in the minority and the vast majority want the convenient solutions that don't involve time/effort for potentially a small saving. Should anyone have any thoughts or potential solutions for me I'd be more than happy to hear them. Happy New Year.
