This is a great resource, have already left a review for a site Steve sent me a couple of months ago.

if your snapping the wooden insert on a high lift your not hitting it square on, i have never snapped one in 30 years but a lad who works with us now and then has snapped a few but then when you watch him swing a hammer its addvisable not to be with in about 50 mtrs of him as its hit, miss, miss , miss then hammer goes flying through the air ,
Thanks for the advice, I’ll bear it in mind on the 400+ softwoods we’ve got to do at the end of this month. -
We use Stihl hi-lifts. Just make sure you have some spare wooden inserts as we have snapped a few in the past.

Another vote for a ride on brushcutter here, we had an Etesia that lasted for years and last year got a Canicom. Gives a decent finish on short grass and will munch through brambles, bracken and shrubs without slowing down.

Brilliant thanks Steve, I’ll give them a ring.
At the risk of sounding like a noob, where on Arbtalk do I find that directory of tip sites? I’ve just been looking on the app and can’t seem to find it. -
Do any of you fine people know of a tip site for conifer chip near Broseley TF12?
Our current job is getting bigger than planned and it’d be nice to not have to make a 2 hour round trip back to the yard tomorrow!

Hi, I’m looking into training options for myself and a colleague. We are looking to do CS38 and I’m wondering if there are any trainers/instructors that would come to our site to do the training and assessment. If not, can anybody recommend a nearby training provider. We are based in North Shropshire. Thanks.
