Late reply to this... forgot about the post... amazing is how it's going. I'll never go back to anything else. The little timberwolf is fantastic for reductions etc but any clearance or bigger jobs this things an animal. Stuck behind the Land Rover and it will go anywhere a tracked machine will (bare in mind I'm not in the mountains or doing trackside work haha). They're fantastic machines, i would highly recommend. 

No air helpers on this one just terriferma kit but they are twin springs on rear (one inside other) same as the Land Rover genuine set up but much more heavy duty.  Proper bit of kit ?

They're cut to about 2.4 meters long and most over 9" diameter.... loaded haha!! 

Hardly breaking a sweat haha

Haha fair enough mate. Had one loaded to fook with logs the other day, hardly moved. That has a terriferma set up along with hd anti role bar. Drove the nuts even loaded. I'll dig out a picture. 

bit of a late reply on this, I've been on a mad one for a few months. How did you get on with the Landy?

Leighton buzzard is only down the road from me. Equally I use browns so if your not local and want someone to take a look let me know. Can also speak with guys at browns etc.

That looks very cheap... it's a fair bit older and lots more hours but under half the price. I would recommend that to anyone if it's a similar engine/set up to the one i brought. Truely amazing bit of kit...

Yes, I will try take some pictures but the chassis is what they call HD. It's almost like another layer of metal welded over the original chassis in choice areas to give extra strength. I have a normal 110 and a HD. Will take some pics at some point if you don't believe me haha. 

Regardless of its plate weight if you have the hicap 3.5 ton springs then it should carry it. The 3050 and 3500 are essentially no different. The springs are uprated and the chassis slightly thicker on the 3.5 but it's the springs that carry the load. 

Yeah I really don't get why. May upset the tranny boys but the defender with the right body can carry more weight legally than any tranny can. I will see if I have some pictures with one of them full. 

Heres our hi hi cap with a fair weight of railway sleepers. Not looking heavy at all really.

Completely full mate. I would assume about 1.5 ton it's a fairly big body. Will see if I have pic loaded. Equally our MEWP weights in around 3.4 ton (based on hicap). Something defo doesn't sound right with yours. I'm just trying to figure out what. 

No mate always BF's. If your going to load it up. Slightly more money but well worth it and I run a lot of defenders haha.

Like you say the main issue is the weight being past the rear axle. Here's a couple of pics of one of ours. Just standard kit but completely Alloy body.

It's hard to call as the standard hi cap again we have one and can take a fair load. Are you trying to tow too? 

What are you comparing the drive too as it's always going to be a strange unnerving experience fully loaded in a defender lol. 

What is it you have? Td5 have you any more pics from the side? The build of your body and what it's made off is key in my experience. 

I have 110's and 130's both 3.5t and both carry well. Anti roll bars will help massively but you shouldnt need anything other than the standard dual springs unless you want to overload it. Ours all have ally bodies and are played by the builder to carry 1.3ton legally. Our 130's will carry 1.8 and still be acceptable on the road but not amazing. 

I haven't used a 230 or Forst but I wouldn't say a bad word about our 150. I've owned it since it was 6 months old (2014 model) never missed a beat and has never cost any money. I've had to renew the jockey wheel mount (complete cheese) other than that it's just service and sharpen. We've done about 600hrs with it. 

Worth noting up up until recently we also run a 190 so depending what work we had depended on what gang used what chipper. 

In in my opinion your better of going for something like a Bandit. We've just purcashes a Carlton and the build quality and performance is way ahead of anything else I've used or experienced. Obviously just my opinion. 

Will most certainly need to do an IPAF course... depending on the machine would depend what course you would need. Easy to do, you'd be stupid not to in my opinion.

They are certainly well built... I would recommend Carlton, bandit the like to anyone.  I'm on the hunt now for service parts if you guys can help. Would like to give it a full oil and filter change, would also be interested in getting a set of bearings and belts for the future. 

Evening all, 

well for for those of you interested, this Carlton is unbelievable. What would have taken us hours today with the 190 took minutes. The Carlton will eat anything, today's work was felling an orchard, the Carlton blasted through it and we used the 150 for brush. Awesome machine, I would highly recommend.
