I'm in that same position now, I'm looking at getting over there at the end of this year and starting a new life, my kids and wife are my main concern as to where I live what the best areas for them to adapt quickly to living there as I'll be working hopefully and they will have to spend some time without me at the start which may be hard, so I want a good environment for them to get to know people easily and somewhere the schools are good

  2. 12 month working holiday visa, sort the job before you fly and look on trade me for flats etc if your coming before the family I'd find a cheap room to rent looking around 150 a week as a quick and easy base to get you started don't want to be commuting from, The hostels in the middle of town to any yards for work every day the traffic will get boring, if you don't like Auckland its easy to up and move when renting

    Thanks for the advice mate, I'm looking forward to getting out there, we are coming over together the wife has Been to Auckland before and enjoyed her stay there, the plan is obviously get work and settled then decide if the place is right for us to apply for residency.
