Have you considered trying to get a work placement with a company in the uk to gain experience?
Yes I have but the fact is that I own a plant store in my country. I could leave for a month and somebody could be here but more than that it's a little bit hard.
Have you tried to contact the ISA on line for other companies or schools in Central or South America?. I truly admire your desire to better yourself. There are also literally hundreds of schools in North America as well. You may also want to contact the TCIA for assistance with your objectives. If you decide to travel to the UK and take up schooling I believe you will have many choices for formal schooling and training. Just remember the cost will be rather expensive when comparing the exchange rate between the £ and the Peso.easy-lift guy
I've been struggling trying to find courses somewhere else. I've found some in the USA but not the 4 week courses with different topics, only weekend courses and stuff like that.
I've found no information about any kind of course in other southamerican countries. It would be way better for me not to travel to the UK (yes, exchange rate kills me with your £ )

question, are you on a budget?
Theres a lot of difference in climbing gear. It will all do the job you want for sure, but take spikes for example. There are far comfier spikes on the market, and think beyond a bit of discomfort, but what that discomfort is doing to your body long term. harnesses also. I appreciate you are probably a little remote, but if at all possible its best if you can try a few harnesses out. Think of them like shoes....you could buy the exact same size show in 2 different brands. In theory they should both fit the same, but we all know thats never the case.
Thank you for the advice! Any recommendation on this items (brand, type, etc)?

Hello everybody!
Im a newbie in this whole business but I want to try with palm tree cleaning to make a few bucks, learn some basics and buy better equipment.
Im considering this:
TreeStuff - Economy Tree Removal Kit
Would it be good enough to start? Would you add something?
Thank you all!
Andrei.

Not wanting to put u off but u may find it quite expensive as usually to do a climbing course u have to have some basic cutting tickets 1st.
I'm quite old fashioned and no matter how good the course/instructors are u do ur real learning on the job under more experienced climbers, as for all the basics are the same every job is different.
Do the other companies not take staff on and train them up?
The other thing woould any UK qualification be relavent in Chile? or do they not have qualifications if no one teaching it?
Good luck hope u get something sorted
The course I put in the post includes cutting.
Im 100% with you but the thing is that here in Santiago there is no way I can learn from experienced arborist because there are none around here.
Companies do train people but wages are super low (I've seen how much you make in the UK in this same job and it's insanely high comparing to chilean wages in similar jobs), thats why I want to do it by my own.
The UK qualification is not required BUT I want to highlight myself having it, won't be bad at all being an independent tree surgeon with international qualification (that's my goal).
Cheers!

Hi everybody, my name is Andrei from Chile, South America.
I'm 27 and I want to start a new career as a tree surgeon. I've never done this kind of job before but I think time, effort and study will get me there.
I want to start a new business in my city (Santiago) because there are only a few companies who have been running for a few decades (kinda monopoly business). I think there is market to get inside and compete. I own a plant store and im getting requests every week (3 to 5 a week sometimes) for tree surgery related things and I don't want to keep letting money on the table and start doing it myself.
Because of the mentiones above, im considering the fast track courses. My question, if you have references or any idea about them, which one is recommended?
I'm considering doing this one:
Fast Track Tree Surgery Courses - Kingswood Training
What is your opinion? I wanted to learn from someone here but there are NO companes that offer that kind of courses and thats why im considering traveling to the UK.
Thank you all in advance,
Andrei.

I don't understand that "I've never chased a quote and I never will" of some people in this thread.
Tons of studies and statistics shows that you close more deals if you follow up a few days/weeks after a quote. People forget, people are busy, people haven't decided and a call or an e-mail is far from being desperate, it's just business (try not to call 3 times in 2 days!).
It is way different to pressure with the idea of closing the deal than just ask "did you get my quote? what do you think? are you interested?"
