  1. Since I had 2 Wildfire Black Gum trees that did not make it I thought I would try a 'Green Vase' Zelkova tree comparing the two trees which one would you say is the nicest of the two? I love the Wildfire Black Gum and am not sure what went wrong with the two all I can say is the leaves started to turn brown on the second on shortly after I had it planted not do to the leak of water for I watered it weekly. The first one came out in buds but never broke bud. What I read about the 'Green Vase' Zelkova it also has a nice root system that does not cause any damage and the Fall color is fantastic just as nice as the Wildfire Black Gum. I am not sure if the 'Green Vase' Zelkova has a Tip root. Does anyone have one of each or both of them and if so can you give the Postive and Negative of your experience with them? You will see my posting on the Black Gum tree that I posted earlier.
  2. In the Spring ( MAY ) of 2015, I planted a Black Gum tree and it did not survive and now there is a sprout coming up, this tree was a Wildfire Black Gum, my question is if I would dig this sprout up will I be able to transplant it and will it be the same cultivar as the tree that I planted? In doing so what and how would I go about transplanting this? This was the tree that I really wanted and this tree that I planted in the Spring of 2015 was my replacement that I planted in the Fall of 2014 which in the Spring of 2015 came out in buds but never broke buds. Would it be the same tree ( Wildfire Black Gum ) or would it be something different? I am from Northwest Ohio in Zone 5A, I have a heavy soil more so clay soil. It has good drainage. The tree would be in the Full sun. The PH is 6.5 to 7 depends on where you plant it.
