  1. Thanks guys, really appreciate the advice. I'll crack on and who knows what will happen :-)
  2. Already have a massive amount of H&S in my job anyway and its not what interests me the most although it is important.
  3. Thanks for the responses guys, unfortunately i never left the mob with a towing ticket, pretty gutted about that. Is there much scope for that sort of thing Stihlmadasever?
  4. Totally Agree Kevin, i can also tell the long haired general that it will make me safer etc
  5. SimSimo, i'm South Staffordshire area, not for from Telford/Cannock/Wolverhampton. But a with a northern accent
  6. Thanks, that's the issue, it wouldn't be my only source of income because I'd do it on a casual basis, when needed. Being realistic my current job pays more than a trainee arborist, I have a Mrs and a kid to support so can't leave to pursue it properly. 30 now, if I was 18 I'd be all over it like a bad rash B-)
  7. Hi all, I'm new to the forum. Right so, I have a decent career (semi office dweller, manager in the construction industry) which pays the bills but I miss the hands on stuff, I go cutting up wind felled trees for firewood and hours of physical labour (which is what im used to) and enjoy it more than my actual job . I came from an outdoors environment with the military and a sawmill job and I miss these aspects. Call me a dreamer......... Now I have a couple of grand from the military to spend on courses and I'd really love to do at least cs 30/31 for my own knowledge but also to try and sell myself as a casual\whenever needed groundsman weekend warrior type where wage isn't important but getting experience and enjoyment is. So if I did this and approached local arborists would it be something they would jump at or something I'd get laughed at?! As daft as it sounds I have some quite heavy h&s quals such as nebosh etc, if I was on the books it would make a firm look good when bidding for utility jobs etc? They love all the bullshit Any advice appreciated, its the internet so I am expecting brutal responses. Am I mad?
