It does sound too good to be true for me I am/was thinking about doing this after a few months being up and running but I feel like it isn’t worth the while , , , it is stated that I will be one in the top five profiles for the 12 month period and that’s part of the reason it’s a 12 month contract, to stop companies outbidding my position.  The big thing that is attracting is the 450+ traffic yell gets a month for the areas I’m working in , and if I’m 1-5 in the top (as long as I’m producing a high standard) sound like a good gamble. 50/50 at the moment

    That sounds so very familiar.

I don't believe they are free ant more. Available to AAAC's. or whatever acronym they use now for approved contractors

Ahh, bugger. Thanks for the info.

Seems odd to stand for improving industry standards and H&S, but restrict a worthwhile resource for the little outfits...
Guess I'll just have to dust of my copy of Office '97

  3. I'm trying to look the Arb Associations risk assessment templates to get my own sorted, but I'm being hit with "Access to the page '/Help-Advice/Public/Help-for-arborists' is denied." when clicking the link... I'm logged in, even tried registering with another email with the same result.

I'm hoping one the AA techies might be able to help...?

    Cheers,

  4. If they're not responding to your letter, or your verbal communication, I'd personally try the gently gently approach a few more times. Then include involving the council that may result in them having to cover costs.

Usually the prospect of losing money gets people moving.

  5. I've not long passed my 38 and struggle to find someone to climb with as regularly as I'd like so, before my son was born, (climbing is on the back burner now) I just went out a few times a week and did some rec climbing on my lonesome - not exactly good advice but it's either that, or I'd have to wait for months and months before climbing...

Always make sure someone knows where you're going and keep in touch.

I have decided that as he wants to include tree work as part of his services I will pay for him to get his certs and I will tag along as well

What a great father-in-law(ish)! Considering your history, it would've been all to easy to say "bah! I didn't need training, so you don't either!"

My girlfriends dad payed for our bathroom, but I would've preferred the chainsaw certs to be honest

  7. On the L6 you only get a word count on the research project - 10,000 plus or minus 10% I think from what I remember. If you submit pages of nonsense though they won't mark it. They will skim over and ignore and just mark the relevant bits. You soon get the hang of it, there is a lot of work at L6 and you don't have time to waffle, you wouldn't stay on top of the work and you would ultimately fail. Staying on topic and nailing the assessment criteria is part of the skill of working at L6.

I believe what I have written isn't nonsense in the slightest as it has never been remarked upon. That said, I would be interested to see what was thought of my work from other parties outside of the college tutors as I doubt we receive feedback from the external assessors other than whether criteria were met or not.

I'm looking forward to starting the lvl4 and then the lvl 6, but based on what people have said in terms of workload, I'm a little worried I'll balls it up, but If I don't go for it the last year and my plan has gone to the proverbial dogs.

  8. Are they ok with that? When I was at uni they would penalise you if you went over by more than about 10%

I assume it is dependant on tutor, college, and awarding body.

I have emailed my tutor in the past and stated I'm struggling to fit in what I think I need to say to show a good understanding of a topic. He expressed it's generally OK, the word limit is to prevent meaningless drivel.

I would also assume a university level course, such as the lvl 4 diploma or lvl 6, would be more realistic on word count as I do feel some of our ours are unrealistic; 500 words to demonstrate an in-depth knowledge of CODIT for example..... maybe I am just a serial waffler. :001_rolleyes: Which brings me back to working hard, not smart :blushing:
