  1. I don't know it is sooty bark..but the wood under the bark is black and powdery
  2. Hi I am a wood pile creator for my open fire, I got permission to take a trunk from a car park of an old mill. I chopped it and loaded in car..it had a black dust rise off it, made me cough lots..i have stored it by my wood pile for 3 months and I think some other pieces are tinged black now...could be they are wet or... My question is do I skip this wood and hence all my wood or is it safe to burn...any advice welcome
