  1. Little update. NFU wouldn't touch my postcode (london), trust came back with £12000 a year (nuts) but Arborisk saved the day with £1600 a year any driver over 30.
  2. Yeah, to clarify, it's a body on top of a truck that's already a tipper. Just want some sides and a back so I can chip on it! It's transit's I'm looking at mainly, not a full conversion like on a Land Rover. I'm gonna call some arb specific places on Monday see what they say. I'd obviously prefer proper cover, but the issue is more that I'm struggling to find more than one or two quotes that aren't in the 10's of thousands and that's even before the modification issue. I'm living in North London so I get it, but still, it's gotta be doable!
  3. Yeah, that's what I'm doing. To start of I was probably gonna put a little metal frame on and put some plywood on the sides. Could you argue that's just something your transporting?
  4. Yeah, it has to be euro 6 because ULEZ charges are not worth it. And I definitely want an actual tipper van. Does this means pretty much every arb truck is considered modified then? Thanks I'll try those, though NFU already told me no as I'm in London. There has to be a way, how else is everyone else doing it?!! Can't move for tree surgeons round here, surely buying a truck and doing your own thing should be possible!
  5. Thanks for the replies. Disheartening as I'm in London and been struggling to find quotes at all before even considering the modification angle. Back to the drawing board...
  6. Hi there. I'm looking to buy a tipper but there's very little online with an arb suitable back. My mate's a welder and I'm crafty enough myself so happy to get one made up, but am wondering if that counts as a modification for insurance purposes? Looking for insurance has been a nightmare already, so hopefully it doesn't count. Any insight would be appreciated!
  7. Hi. One of the companies I sub for has gone bust so looking to fill 1 or 2 days a week, though am flexible up or down. Chilled out guy that likes to get the job done. Based in SE22 but can travel within London. Been climbing nearly 3 years, doing all sorts of different works, with another 2 years on the ground. All my own kit except chainsaw. Happy and comfortable with anything except the largest fells/heavy duty rigging. Light build so good at getting out far for leggy reductions. Have my cs 30/31/38. Was promised cs 39 paid for by said company for almost 2 years but, now that they've gone bust, looks like I'm paying for it myself so I've booked it in for end of this month. For what it's worth, I've been using chainsaw in tree for as long as I've been climbing and the assessment will be just a formality. Been on £120 a day for every firm I've worked for in the last year plus, so that's what I'm looking for to start. If your interested, pop me a message and we can discuss further. Cheers, P
