  1. As said before the skoda caddy pickups were great little trucks but getting long in the tooth and rare now, I used and abused 3 of them and it always suprised me where they would go if you pick away quietly if you do get it stuck they are easy to get out.

On the second caddy van now but not as versatile as the pickups and still use the Disco for the heavy towing.

I am tempted to look at the Fiat Doblo pickup 1 tonne payload 1.3 tonne towing and as ugly as sin so it might not get nicked.

  2. Mine is a 2011 and it's 6500kg. I believe it's t350 2014 onwards. That said, I'm not sure I'd want to tow 350kg behind a transit and with 115bhp not even sure you really could!

It wasn't that many years ago that the big arctics of the day were running the length and breadth of the country with 180 hp.

Now days you can't drag a wheelbarrow round the houses with a transit with only 115 hp !

I must be getting older than I thought, still you can't argue with progress.

  3. I think you will struggle to get a worthwhile lift off a landrover base.

If you are going ahead is it worth considering an old cherry picker, it would give you the hydruilics and posably some additional legs, both might be mot exempt but I don't think you can tow with it if using an mot exemption.

  4. When talking to dealer at Dunster show a couple of weeks ago he say's that all the Hi lux's imported after November will be plated at 3.5tonne. It's still strong money for a work truck and there basic spec is far to pretty for what I want.

    Isuzu or another old landy??.

  5. The little rabbit comes out the hole round the back of the tree and back down his hole!

It's fast and easy to tie even when things are going wrong dosn't slip even with 8000 tonnes of ship yanking on it and is easy to undo. What's not to like about it? The first knot to learn after mastering your shoelaces.

  6. I can't fathom out who might have dredged up this old thread, someone poking round Davey Jones's locker no doubt.

Eel get right crabby if he thinks your after his hammerheads and might even set his dogfish on you.

  7. I've had my Kubota 9540 about 3 years now and really like it.

It is the next size down from the range you are looking at and the previous generation.

I bought it because it has basic mechanics and minimal electronic controls.

The model you are looking at has a power shift transmission and electronic engine management both of which will be common to any new tractor of that size.

Kubota have a very good reputation for reliability but tend to be a little thirsty for their size.

They are normally lighter than others for their horsepower but very good manoeuvrability for their size

The cab controls feel Japanese a little light but everything works as it should.

When you come to sell it farmers tend to be more brand loyal on larger tractors and Kubota is a newcomer at this size.

If you think it's what you want get one on demo, if your dealer won't demo one the look elsewhe as its not going to be the start of a happy relationship.

A bit longwinded but I hope this helps.

  8. I have an old jappa 100 with an engine mounted on It, I don't think fuel wood sell them with the engine any more. One man can cut and another split but you need to work together otherwise the belts will slip or you lose to much speed on the saw. Overall a cracking bit of kit for its size and you just wheel it to where you want to work. Worst thing picking all the logs off the floor.
