  1. Axminster had one on clearance. When I collected it from the north london branch they asked me what it was and what it did. When I looked around you could get something similar for about 5k. We fitted a pneumatic guide and conveyor.

I have seen a machine that recovers the wood from pallets it has loads of circular saw discs. When I looked into it half the pallet was turned into waste so you needed lots of pallets and would be left with as much waste as kindling. The kindlet will take the odd nail but loads of them will soon blunt the blade pallets also get stones embedded in them and it can be difficult to work out if they are treated.

how many bags of kindling could you get from a pallet? :thumbup1:

  2. Pallet boards will go through it but it just takes more time to break pallets up !

    yes suppose your right.:001_smile:.

is there any easy way to break pallets up?.i still would not use pallets as my main source of materials.it would just be a bit of a bonus if you can make bags of kindling for free (exluding labour) :thumbup1:

  3. hi guys thanks for all the input..i bought the machine and collecting it off a mate.i paid £2800 for 2009 model.joinery off cuts would be ideal as they are alot easier to handle.

    @genesetsteve.

they are cracking bags of kindling you have there.does spurce or pine give as clean of a bag of kindling as the off cuts do?:001_smile:

  4. Price sounds about right not expensive

Clean bone dry pine is the most popular

we only sell neat packed bags cant shift the random stuff

There is a huge amount of work involved for wholesale money

Most of the work is in preparing the stuff to 6" not feeding the kindlet.

we use 50x40 but you need to talk to your large customers.

If you have to buy the timber you will be better off buying cord and doing bags of logs less work and more profit.

hi steve, thanks for the advice.this year i am hopeing to take it nice and slow as i dont have the sheds or yard to do it.but hopefully as i let the business grow i can expand my work area to make easy as possible.and i think it will be great for my young lad ( 16 years old btw) to see how hard money is got and that you will need to graft to earn a living :001_tongue:

  5. hi guys,im thinking about setting up a kindling business in my area.i have purchased a used kindlet machine.the machine is a 2009 model and i paid 2800 pounds for it (3500 euro).i still need to pick the machine up within the next month or so.

was that a cheap price for the machine?

what materials is best and cheapest for kindling?

should i sell it in loosely packed bags or neatly packed?

is there alot of work involved in making large quantites if kindling?

what sized bag is the most attractive for customers?

any help will be much appreciated :001_smile:

    thanks
