  1. It's probably too old for what your after but there's a guarded up Valmet 8000 going up for sale shortly, 1994 model, 10,500 ish hours.  Stickers suggested it had been through wilsons at some point in its life (maybe for the guarding) Ideally wants tyres all round (or tubes as a minimum) and it has a bit ofa voltage drop between the key and the starter (but starts mint when it catches).  Big ol' girl with minimal electrics and sounds awesome.

Also there should be a 2013 Valtra N121, belly guarded (by sovereign) about 3000ish hours. Probably still has the bracket for the forwarder controls in the back of the cab too.  Not a bad cab to spend the days in except the air con stopped working.

Both have come straight from work and as far as I know will be in the liquidation auction of where I worked in about a week or so.

No pics on tablet but can probably get some off my phone.

They sound like good machines Chris. Do you know who’s doing the auction?

  2. Lad on fb imports them think it's Rob Taylor, Eden Valley machines and something cladding .... in his name.... Worth a shot

Cheers [emoji1303] Been speaking with Rob he had a 8350 in but I was too slow on making a decision.
  3. Farkinell!!! I bet that was a bit ‘5p 50p’…!
Glad all involved are ok, I was anticipating a tree-felling incident gone wrong story, yours is a bit too real-life though!

Oh and one more to make you laugh….

When I crawled out the sunroof….. I thought there was body parts over the road …. Turns out it was a refrigerated meat van [emoji23]

Was over before I really knew what was going on. One thing I will say it was hell of a ride haha. Was very pee’d off about my yeti mug of 5 years getting flat packed [emoji23]
  5. So you're scouring the ads or will commission a replacement from Wilson's?

Been searching ads since October when it happened nothing of similar age of condition. Would get another 8150 and have a crane put on the roof but haven’t seen one for sale for months. People seem to be holding onto them.

    The search continues.

  6. How?! Sounds a great story (providing nobody was hurt)…

I got rear ended by a Van at 70mph….. van went under the hopper of the chipper picked it up on the 3 point linkage and flipped me over as I had it on a swinging knuckle to take the weight off the tractor when in chipping mode. Van roof was can opened off by the hopper. Van driver was ok. I had 2 weeks off work …. was lucky to climb out alive really. Broken rib, Road rash on my arm, Steel toe cap pinched my toes, and just totally black and blue, a few minor burns from being trapped and hot oil spraying on me. Not ideal but here to tell the tale. Onwards and upwards.

Mission accepted to find a replacement as good as the last!

  7. Is it totally written off. No option to buy back the crane and the roof frame if they survived?

Chandlers have t series botex roof mount and a jake kesla. A few valmet 8000 series on farm trader but the hours are high.

It’s totally destroyed unfortunately the frame for the crane has squashed the cab, the tractor axles are bent so she’s beyond repair. The crane for wrecked during the recovery which was gutting. Only had done 100hrs since the conversion. Spoken to Chandlers they are too high hours and pretty rough. Good condition, low hour used forestry tractors = hens teeth.
  8. What happened to her? I’m currently looking at mounting a cranab crane to the roof of my Valmet 8100. Could do with the frame or at least pictures of how to mount it. Is this anything you could possibly help with please?
    Cheers

She’s bent and twisted beyond repair unfortunately. I’ll have a look through some pictures see if I’ve anything that could help. JASP built mine, could be worth a call to them, they’d make you up a frame to suit?

  9. Evening,

After my unfortunate events, my 8150 & roof mount has been written off so I’m on the search.

I am after a Valtra with a Botex / Kesla roof or jake mount. 8000 series or T series. Lower hours the better.

    Thanks

It was indeed your old machine. Having operated numerous forwarders it was an eye opener for me at how productive it can be with such little impact.

  11. I’ve been lucky enough to work alongside Eddie and operate and see the tracked dumper with the timber crane is a great idea plenty of power and manoeuvrability can pick them up for around 15k the price of a decent quad and timber trailer with some modifications and a crane you can extract some serious timber. With less ground pressure than a human foot!

This happened to mine... only a had a few months use. ART say it’s non warranty and a new frame is around 100 euros. Bit of a shame always been a big ART fan but wasn’t greatly impressed.

  13. I've just got myself one of those! All brought and paid for but no pictures 'cos I haven't actually got it yet [emoji3]
Pretty much exactly the same setup but various aspects of my work make a cab necessary so I went for the forestry version, complete with uniforest 35 winch.

I was shopping for the front steered TS, mainly for the more viable road speeds, but the one I ended up getting came up second hand at a decent price, can't wait to see how she performs.

Was originally after a forestry spec one, will be looking into trying to get a cab for sure ! The Uniforest 35m is very good, I’ve had it out a few times now and so far very impressed, currently after a flail for it got a rough site to clear that is very hilled and hollowed hopefully be the tool for the job
