We use a hycrack splitter on a 24 hp compact. It will split anything and has a good output. It can be dropped to the ground to pickup large rounds. Great machine and I'm really pleased with it.

Then perhaps you need to replace the seals on the door , sweep the chimney , and or check out the draw on the flue . When mine is at full chat you cant tell if its alight from outside when looking at the chimney . In fact when its up to temp what ever the setting there is no discernible smoke from the stack .
Thanks for your advise. I think it could be the draw. I'm planning to put another length of flue on and change the cowl. It only has a 5" outlet and a handle on one door...not good. Yours sounds like a good one, it must have a 6" outlet and flue. What cowl are you using? Cheers

I enjoyed looking at your photos, great trees.
Many thanks for posting them, John

Sorry Matt, just realised it's your grinder. I would service it first and try to get it to run cleaner. Try to position it so the wind takes the fumes away when you are grinding. Some diesel engines smell awful, try to redirect the exhaust pipe.

Arb and Hort is a very competitive industry. The only way I can make a go of it, is to be logged on nearly 24/7.
-
Mine smokes and sets the smoke alarms off when I open it up and that's using well seasoned beech Man!
-
Sounds like your chipper engine is warn out Matt. May I recommended a new Timberwolf 230, it's a great machine.
-
Or heavy rigging rope?
-
And all the chainsaws are made abroad too.
-
Let's not buy any new chainsaws Guys, that will help balance the export deficit.
-
Must be careful not to burn Ash with Chalara Fraxinea or it might go viral!
And it wood spread faster that way!
-
Is your stove a computer too then?
-
Yes, there's always a way to save cash.
-
Surely you could phone the Mrs and ask her to put a log on?

Where we are asked to leave timber near a river, someone just has to throw some in. Not good on the job we are working on at the moment, as the water level is controlled by sluice gates. Anyone else had this problem?
-
Ok, I will have to think up something else.
-
Surely if we grow them in England, we would get more for our pound Mark?
-
So how are we going to make this Country great again Guys, are we going to make reliable cars, open coal mines, produce milk, beef, timber, etc.??? How about self sufficiency, do we need to import bananas?
