  3. Hi all, I'm building a small log cabin in my Sussex wood (fed up of sheltering under a tarpaulin in the drizzle.) Currently looking at roofing options. I'd love chestnut shingles or shakes. Anyone got any idea what they cost? And who would be a good supplier? Am contacting local sawmills. Before you ask, I have hardly any chestnut in the wood - it's mainly birch and Scots Pine. If really expensive this may turn out to be a pipe dream, but I would definitely prefer wooden shingles or shakes to roofing felt .... Looking forward to hearing from you
