  1. I've just started doing the same thing. The last job is for the 12th december and then I'm going to do a week of logging before finishing for xmas. The two jobs i've had in since have been put straight into January. Good to know the tree work is fairly constant as thats all we do (and hedges)
  2. Morning all, I setup my business on April 1st this year and I can't be happier with the way it has gone so far! I have had about 5 days since with no work and my client list has expanded nicely. When I started I never expected it to go as well as it has so I am really chuffed! I am starting to slow down a little at the moment with enquiries and although I am booked up till the 12th December I am starting to get a little worried about the new year. I have got a couple of courses booked in and about 20 tonnes of wood that needs to be logged so I have plenty to do but I have a lad that works for me and i really don't want to lose him so need to keep him busy. My question to the more experienced business owners is what can i expect in January and february? Is it really quiet? Cheers Stu
  3. Yep my mistake! its actually 2570kg for the 3.5 tonner! 2150kg is for the 3tonne:blushing:
  4. The load weight for the 2600 is 1850kg and the 3500kg is 2150kg load weight so in reality i would be paying 600 quid extra for 300kg extra payload. When you put it that way it kind makes the decision a little easier especially as I want to put the mesh sides on! I will be towing with an L200!
  5. Just about to buy a tipping trailer as i'm sick of busting my balls to empty my non tipper every day! Looking at the Brian James Cargo Tipper 10'2" x 5'5" but not sure what Gross kg to go for?? The 2600kg is £600 quid cheaper than the 3500kg but not sure whether to save money or go for the bigger capacity. I've been managing for the last year with a 1000kg 8X6 (non tipper) which has been great but the aim is to cut down on the amount of tip runs and also the speed of the drops. I haven't got a clue how often I am over capacity at the moment but I would suspect once a week at least! I also plan to do logs and mulch next year so weight will be more of a factor but i don't know how much so? Any thoughts and advice much appreciated.
  6. Need a groundie for tomorrow must be able to use a chainsaw (30/31). Bit last minute but ive been let down. £60 for the day and there may be a second day on the friday. PM if interested. Cheers Stu
  7. Thanks for all the advice guys much appreciated!! Is it worth keeping the logs for firewood? Cheers
  8. Good to know thanks. I have searched for hours tonight on here and the Web but couldn't find anything other than wood turners warnings!!
  9. Evening all, I have a big job on over the next couple of days to remove a very old Yew tree which in itself is a fairly straight forward job. I am aware of the toxicity of yew trees and danger posed if leaves and seeds are digested but a gardener friend of mine commented that I should wear a breathing mask whilst chainsawing to prevent inhalation of dust as it can be a problem. I've done a bit of research but I cant seem to find a definitive answer? I wasn't planning on wearing a mask but he has sown the seed of doubt and I was hoping someone on here can give a bit more clarity on the matter. Cheers
  10. Cheers will give them a go in the morning.
  11. Evening all, First post from a serial lurker in need of help. I have an 8 x 5 trailer which I need to get mesh panels put on so that I can cut down on the amount of waste trips I make and not leave a trail of brash behind me all the way. Anyone know where I can go for them? Have tried ebay etc but no luck and I am guessing they will need to be custom made to fit my trailer. The trailer itself is custom made so is probably not exactly 8 x 5?? I am based in the Midlands but am willing to travel if necessary. Cheers Stu
