Lowering prices won't help conversion rates. If anything, put prices up.

We had put prices up a few months back. But last 5/6 weeks we seem to be priced out a lot more on domestic as people look for the cheapest quotes…

  2. Gone very quiet for us. Also now struggling to get the money on jobs that we need. Have tried lowering my prices and that hasn’t helped. We have stayed relatively steady up until this month. We have 4 or so weeks ahead but not many new enquiries coming through.

  3. Depends greatly on the angle of the branch. A good matching step cut as described above works well and it should pop off. Sometimes cutting a small gob can work against you. But I have found a second smaller undercut and good bunny ears, to prevent tearing, is good for added security. Never strop into or below it. Sharp fast chain, no saw lanyard if it’s that big.

  5. Rescuing from a base tie is almost an oxymoron. Base ties are great for access in bigger trees and when your working in a different area of the tree to where your line is routed back down or if your in an adjacent tree. Definitely has its merits. I use a figure 8 backed up. You can also set the amount of slack rope in your system so your not pulling 50m about all the time.

  6. Hi Ben
I'm in Surrey, just south of Reigate.

Ah that’s a shame, I’m Essex based. Having the opposite problem. Trying to find good firms to sub to. I have my regulars but just want to change things up a little.
  7. I’m not referring to a person of below average height in the Army.
There appears to be a shortage of available staff, professional, qualified, useless or other.
I’ve been looking for ages with two threads on the employment forum here and adverts elsewhere, with very little interest.
I’m in desperate need of anyone who is competent.
The only two enquiries during the last two months gave me the impression that I had to move my business to their mums house and make breakfast before they’d scrape themselves off the mattress, to update their social media.
Anyway, I just wondered if it’s coincidental or is there a general shortage of people at this time?

    Where are you based mate?
  8. Hi gents,

I have a few days here and there in the coming months due to a regular retiring. I have six years climbing experience working here and in New Zealand in a spectrum of different work.

I provide saws and gear etc.

    NPTC and CSCS qualified

Chelmsford based, happy to travel Essex and near by.

    Feel free to PM.

    Cheers , Ben
