  1. Hi we ve been logging today and a guy across the road looked annoyed that sawdust was blowing around do any of you guys have this problem

You cant stop it blowing around and i wouldnt offer to clear it up if it was any further than next door but if there is a specific complaint its only 60 seconds with the blower. It must be annoying if you only swept the day before haha

  2. I pay my guys a day rate, I give them the work sheet / sheets and let them know how long it will take i.e I expect it done in a day or two days or whatever. They have a start time to be on site that is realistic and if they want to get coffee, eat, have a cigarette, go to the chippy then that is fine as long as the work is done within the number of days allocated. Its never failed to work for me.

Tree work is not a business that employees can work 9-5, as an employer how would you feel if they left all the tidying up to do the following morning because they had "run out of time"? Its swings and roundabouts. I'm fair with them, the're fair with me the work gets done.

It seems too many employers on here feel the need to rule with an iron fist, do you not trust your staff? In which case should you be employing those staff?

  3. You'll simply spend the rest of your life pulling wire out of the gap between the flywheel and bearings replacing mangled blades and bending various bits of it back into shape. Many people seem to take the attitude that once they have paid the hire its theirs to abuse and yours to repair

  4. The bottom roller on my 2006 TW190 as you look into the hopper has moved about 5mm to the left (ie towards the hydraulic motor) and started grinding itself into the slide box, I grease it every week and there isn't any play in it from what I can't tell without stripping it. Any ideas on what might be going wrong? I'm concerned its going to chew its way through the side of the intake.
