Hi All,
I use an old makita dcs340 for cutting up firewood, but whilst messing about trying to repair the starter cord retracter I broke a fin on the flywheel.
Am I right in guessing that the missing fin will put the flywhel off balance and cause vibration.
If so does anyone know where I can get a second hand replacement, a new one is £70 an the saw would be uneconomic to repair.

Thank you, willow makes sense, even thick branches were easy to snap off.

Hi All,
I heat my home with a stove and gather and process all my own wood.
I have recently helped some friends remove a fallen and rotting tree from their field.
They thought it was oak, which could not be further from the truth.
The tree had been blow down snapping a few feet off the ground, it had regrown as if it had been coppiced. I cannot describe what shapeit should have been.
The main trunk had brown thick fissured bark, the newer growth had green shiny smooth bark.
The wood is very light in colour only slightly of white, it is not dense. It is easily snapped and the main truck splinters.
There were no leaves to see.
Does any one know what it might have been.
Thank you,
William
