I took it all apart and blew out and cleaned everything yesterday. All pristine except the diaphragm was a bit soft and distorted.
It started first time but then stopped and wouldn't go again. I've now ordered a rebuild kit.
I'll report back but it may be a few weeks before I can get round to it now.
Thanks for all the help and advice.

Thanks for the help all. I've had a look today and there's a spark and fuel getting to the pot but it still won't start so the next step will be to get a diaphragm kit.
Cheers

Hi folks
I thought I'd try some Aspen in my reliable old 025 the last time I used it about a month ago. It worked fine although didn't idle well until it warmed up.
Today it started straight away but wouldn't idle and after cutting out a few times it then wouldn't start again. I didn't have time to start looking into it so just finished the job off with a hand saw.
I've had the saw from new, must be 25 years, and it's only had non-professional personal use.
Any ideas before I start taking it apart or ordering new diaphrams etc?
Thanks in advance for any pointers.
Dave

All sorted! The carb rebuild kit worked and it now runs sweet as a nut. Unleaded + Stihl oil 50:1 just to get back to basics. I'll go back to the Aspen when I use it.
