Aye, I read some of the other threads and have a better idea about different 2-stroke. Most folk that use it seem perfectly happy with the Stihl green (dark blue?). I must admit red oil is much more obvious to the eye on a dark morning! Thanks all.

Its Stihl HP Super, doesn't have an FC or FD rating on the bottle. I have mixed up the free 100m of Echo stuff, Power Blend Gold, I got with the saw, its Jaso-FD. I might get some more it a try from now on. I can use the Stihl stuff for my strimmer! I noticed the Stihl Ultra is Jaso-FB I checked the revs with my tach and they are bang on the manual specs, I never thought about the 2-stroke oil, I see all this JASO stuff is about reducing residual ash so that might be it. The thing is I have been using the Stihl Super for years in other saws and never had this problem, deffo don't want that carbon ash in the cylinder and piston!

I saw that video, its very like the way I do it. Yes I always cut at full throttle. I was wondering if it was from leaving it on idle for too long, I tend to do this up a tree. My smaller Echo's do get a lot more use than the bigger Stihls and Husqy, that's the nature of pruning and dismantling domestic trees. Thanks for the tips.

Right enough, there's not much chance of starting a forest fire in somebodys garden! Fatboy, do you mean the carb settings are set too rich, I thought about that but they are set as per service manual. I will check the 2 stroke oil, its Stihl but haven't looked too close at its label, I might lean the L and H screws a little bit. Thanks.

    Echo CS-3510ES

I have been using my new Echo CS-3510 for about six months now and it has been great, very light and powerful. I replaced the 14 inch bar with a 12 inch from my old CS-281WES and its been very good for climbing and limbing. The problem is I have had to clean the spark arrestor screen twice now, the saw had a big drop in power and the screen was coked up badly. That's twice in six months, I don't remember having to do that on a chainsaw before. The carb settings are standard as in the service manual. Any ideas?
