Sorry to hear this Andy,my wife comes home absolutely knackered having worked in a isolation unit for over six hours in full kit, in a understaffed unit,(7.45-4-00pm job) with minimum resources, on a quarter of a train drivers wage, who have just striked for a bigger wage, (53k -£67k?)my wife is never late for work, never shirks her duties and has never had a day off sick, she takes pride in what she does and will work later to make sure she gets chemo orders out Even if  she clocked off how ever late it takes, and she’s far from being the only one in the nhs, me sitting at home ,makes me feel very guilty, but come 8pm tonight, I will pass her a glass of wine, and stand on my doorstep and applaud her and everyone else at the forefront of this crazy panademic,in the meantime, I will hold off on domestic tree work, until,it’s safe to do so.

My wife works for the nhs front line making chemo for cancer patients(on a shit wage), my son is a paramedic front line and so is my younger sons girlfriend, they are essential workers making us all safer and better,  me running a tree team out in uncertainty isn't essential, (money is needed, yard rent, chipper payments etc) I have a great bunch of lads and have decided for there safety and my customers we will abide by what boris has asked and take three weeks off, now I hate being home like the rest of us, (and wish I had a government salary/not my wifes) but if everybody says ,"oh it doesn't mean me" then its insulting to the ones who try and fix things and do as there told, my customers will still be there in three weeks time, and I will make sure there`s plenty of bonus payments to my lads,as I do when were busy.

I will be keeping myself busy doing stuff at home ,cleaning the garage ,finishing my shed etc,you tube etc,,,stay safe in whatever you decide to do.

big thanks to your wife mine is going through cemo at the moment

  4. I don't think I am devaluing the industry! I am a good climber who does a good job.

I quoted the job for a fair price (£300). This job did not need a 3 man team and a chipper. It took me from 9 till 3, the garden was spotless afterwards and the customer happy and knackered after all his secateur work.

What about that is devaluing the industry?

work how you want mate charge what you like nothing to do with anybody on hear

  5. I'm currently looking for a new chipper and wanting something robust and that will last as I only plan to buy one once for at least the next 5 years.

Iv been looking about and wanting something in the 8" line up as I feel that this class is above this whole sub 750kg and going to be built to last. Which a lot of people have told me a bandit 90xp is a good choice.

Never Tried or demoed one so looking for some strong advice before I do.

I'm towing it behind a 3.5t Mitsubishi canter with a gtw of 7t and I have my license to tow so that's not an issue.

    Opinions please

had a 90 for many years good solid machine must be kept very sharp never had any problems

  6. Hi, I’m looking for an old workhorse Mercedes ML320 / 300 / 280 4x4. I’ll very happily consider anything from 2002/3 onwards. I'm after an auto (I think most of them are..). Diesel or petrol - not fussed. Mileage to be anything below about 100 but willing to consider anything up to roughly 105. Any exterior colour - again, not fussed. Seats in boot ideally to be removed to carry tools etc around in but I can do this myself so not a big issue. Any colour interior as long as the seats are in reasonable nick, I’d be very happy to consider.

I need one ASAP so if anyone has one for sale or knows of one for sale, I’d be happy to pay about £400 over book price. Am looking at eBay etc too so I would be very grateful if you could let me know as soon as poss. Cheers! :)

had a 320 nothing but trouble very expensive for spares

  7. Evening all,

I'm in the early stages of fabricating a towable splitter, I've got a good idea of how I'm going to go about it I.e engine, hydraulics e.t.c.

The only thing I'm struggling to work out is what exactly to use for the splitting wedge?! I've considered using the head of a maul or an axe but I prefer the look of a wedge seen on most horizontal splitters. I'm guessing it's hardened steel of some sort?

Any idea of what I could use and more importantly where I could get something to use.

    Thanks

    George
