I stalk Fallow and Roe with it down in Sussex but I wanted a calibre that could pretty much use for anything in the UK. Yeah that's the problem with steel ones they get pretty knackered after a few years, especially if you do a lot of shooting and also shooting in the rain. The hardy is Aluminium though so I'm hoping it will fair a bit better. Its a pretty good calibre IMO but its always overshadowed by 308 despite having what I'd consider better ballistic performance
I know someone who uses 270 on foxes the knock down power is horrendous. Does the job tho. Always prefer to be over kill !!!! never like the thought of not doing the job properly first time. I am off stalking tomorrow in Warwickshire using 243win with new atec mod see how get on.
-
Its really really nice, I have only put ten shots through it so far but even that gave me enough to smile about. Will be doing a whole lot more over Christmas to really get a feel for it but its a lovely rifle and with the Hardy mod its pretty light. I think the whole rifle with scope and mod only weighs about 4kg
I used to have a T8 on my last rifle, it was heavy and made the rifle so unbalanced. It also seemed to go rusty inside even though I took it off, dried it out and sprayed it with some moderator protection oil stuff.
What you got in mind for it living or target ?same my moderator rusted inside out with pit holes. Come to conclusion moderators are disposable items 2-5 life shelf life wam em get a new one. Never used 270 it will hit hard that calibre

I had a reflex t8 on my old 243win it is good mod very quiet but bloody heavy to big for stalking and foxing. I find Great for the range tho . Have a look at the new hertz mods by atec
