  1. would a scored piston pass the crankcase pressure and vacuum test i did but still cause problems ? what i saw of the piston via the ports did not look great.
  2. Ok iv'e been on the sick for a while but i'm back to this saw now, i tried a pop off test , no pop at 30 psi, the max my mityvac will do, (the needle and seat were wet with wd40.) It falls slowly from 30 psi to 15 in about 60 seconds, then creeps down even slower.
  3. iv'e got a cubic meter bag of split unseasoned oak , i'm in Bucks, whats the going rate for selling this delivered locally ?
  4. i never swallow.
  5. Yes the check valve in the main nozzle, i read about testing this by putting a tube in the high speed needle hole and sucking and blowing, so as to test the valve working, i tried this but i can suck air back through, it's very difficult to get a seal on any little bit of hose poked in there, so i'm not 100 % sure on this.
  6. Is there meant to be a check valve behind the H needle on this carb ?
  7. i can't get a known good carb, but i'm thinking i might have to strip it again and re clean it, maybe ultra sonic it. The spark is still good after it dies, and the plug is maybe a little black & sooty, though i have not tuned this carb yet, and it's an old plug. I will try a pop off test tommorow. Thanks so far guys...
  8. doing that gets me just under 180 psi
  9. compression test i am getting 80 psi cold, and 65 / 75 warm ( after about a minute run ) any good ?
  10. Needles are set to one turn out as per the manual
  11. i am in Uxbridge, Middlesex.
  12. double checked all the diaphragms, and blew it out with carb cleaner again. i haven't comp tested it as it does run, is this worth doing ? I don't have another carb.
  13. i picked up another used Ms200t, i have solvent cleaned the carb, put a new carb kit in, pressure and vacuum tested the crankcase, tank, fuel and inpulse hoses, and carb inlet with my Mityvac, as per the service manual, exhaust is clear, no spark screen in there, it will start from cold, and run on full throttle, but if i slow it down it dies, and is impossible to start again, any suggestions ? (the top part of the tank vent is broken off, i think theres supposed to be a filter on there, leaving just the rubber "mushroom" but i don't see that as a problem, theres no vacuum going on.) I have run out of swear words to use at it.
  14. what are the all time best Stihl models to look out for at the plant auctions i go to ? what are the pro saw models and what are not ? ( i know about the MS200t, the holy grail ! )
  15. I bought a used and abused Stihl Ms200t for £160, and it's back to life now for a carb kit, 1 rubber buffer, 1 chaincatcher, bit of pull cord, a chainbrake handle, and a re ground chain, £ 50 of parts, this one is for my own use not for resale. would there be a profit on that saw if i sold it ?
  16. I repair generators for a living, amonst other things, and i've recently done a few saws, a Stihl Ms200t is on my bench today, my question is, is there any money in rebuilding , and re selling quality saws like this ?
