  1.

Been burning smashed up pallets the last couple of nights. Fed up moving them when they get in the way so chopped the all up and burning them. Provide good flame and plenty heat. Only downsides are out to log shed every 2 mins ad the ashes will be full of nails. Burn what you have as long as it's dry:thumbup1:

:thumbup:Yep me too , just have a good magnet by the stove when you come to clear out the ashes . I save them up for the scrap :sneaky2:

  2. I find this thread and other threads about the moisture content of logs funny, people are getting to anal about bloody wood! We have burnt wood since the start of time and I doubt they had a blinking moisture meter back when cave men were using fire as heat. Get some wood and hold it in your hand, if it's wet then leave it if it's dry then burn it. The whole firewood market is a joke, people brainwashed into thinking softwood is crap. Well your wrong, the Scandinavians burn pretty much only softwood and they happy enough. This is one of the reasons I'm getting out of logs, people are getting way to fussy about what they burn.

:thumbup:Spot on We should all be educating customers to buy more softwood to burn . Its all i ever burn because i find it tough to sell, So i sell hardwood to the firewood snobs .:confused1:

  3. iv got loads off arb arb waste, its what we call all the crap from from the processor ,sawdust/rakings up,any thing tooooo small to make a log ,genral crap reaily but your free to collect it can load with the tractor

Why the sarcassm? It was just a question:001_tongue:

  4. :001_rolleyes:

shove it a nice warm garage it will be 25% in no time ,ash drys out fairly quick imo

Yeah crazy , its not fair when if you season any wood properly its just as good as ash. Oak in my opinion is the best firewood but people will not be patient to sit on it for seasoning.softwood just as good as ash.probably going to upset a hornets nest now ??:001_tt2:

  5. My thoughts exactly.

Had a roaring fire going of softwood offcuts, goat willow and pine. Stuck a large bit of ash on there and now its just smouldering!

We should all be burning soft wood with our hardwoods its had such a bad repratation for being a poor quality firewood . some softwoods are harder than hardwoods. Use them together and your quids in:thumbup:

  6. There are many individuals on the Forum who have been air drying firewood for many years and have freely given their advice to others on the Forum.

The general concensus is - 1m3 blocks are best for many reasons.

Firewood is sold in this volume.

    Economics demand wood is containerised.

Drying wood is all about air changes surrounding it.

    Smaller volumes better but impractical.

I soon realised that this is one of the great things about the Forum - the generosity of others.

I thought that was the point of a forum ? im sorry for asking:001_huh:
